St. Rita’s Immigration Center

Saint Rita’s Center was established in September of 1983 by Sister Jean Marshall, O.P., as a place where refugees and immigrants could come for the help and support necessary to build new lives. Over the years, Saint Rita’s has expanded into a multi-service, community-based organization.

Today Saint Rita’s is a gathering place where the refugee/immigrant population feels at home. The dedicated, bilingual staff and volunteers of St. Rita’s provide a wide variety of programs and services, including:

Adult Education: St. Rita’s provides English as a Second Language (ESL), literacy and tutoring in order to assist clients to speak, read and write English. We also provide citizenship education classes.

Employment Program: Saint Rita’s Employment Program provides job counseling referrals and vocational ESL classes for refugees and immigrants.

Social Services: St. Rita’s provides a broad spectrum of social services including interpreter/translation, individual and family couseling, referrals, and advocacy.

Youth: St. Rita’s youth programs incluse guidance, tutoring and support services for high school students; and homework assistance, tutoring and enrichment programs for elementary school children. We also offer peer support, recreation, and remedial summer school classes.
